Loyalty of Love

What is a relationship without loyalty?  The Jerry Springer Show.

What is loyalty, how do we see it in handwriting, and what can it tell us about the person?

First of all, Houghton Mifflin states loyalty as 1) The state or quality of being loyal.  See Synonyms, fidelity.  2) A feeling or attitude of devoted attachment and affection.  Often used in the plural:  My loyalties lie with my family.

Since the word fidelity was used in the definition, let's include that one also.  1) Faithfulness to obligations, duties, or observances.  2) Exact correspondence with fact or with a given quality, condition, or event; accuracy.  3) The degree to which an electronic system accurately reproduces the sound or image of its input signal.

These nouns denote faithfulness.  Fidelity implies the unfailing fulfillment of one's duties and obligations and strict adherence to vows or promises:  fidelity to one's spouse.  Loyalty implies a steadfast and devoted attachment that is not easily turned aside:  loyalty to an oath; loyalty to one's family.  And may I add, loyalty to one's spouse.

For the purpose of this article, the focus will be kept on fidelity and loyalty regarding personal relationships, using the term loyalty.

In the handwriting, the first place I look for the quality of loyalty is with the placement and shape of the "i" dots.

The dot is seen as close to the stem, and round without being ground into the paper.  Just a nice, round dot.  If it is slashed or placed away from the stem as if floating in space, then it does not count.

This may seem overly simplified for such an important trait, so that is why we need to look at some other thing sin the writing and keep in mind the many things a person can be loyal to in life.  More on that later.

With loyalty, we want to see in the writing indicators of honesty.  Those include clear loops in the "o", "a", and "d" letters or any letter with a circle shape in the middle zone.  If there are any loops, stabs, or jabs inside those leters, the person is considered to not communicate honestly.
