Occupational Code

Did you know that a Questioned Document Examiner has been assigned an occupational code number by the government?  Yes, Code #199.267-022 is assigned to “Examiner, Questioned Documents alternate title: handwriting expert.

Giving a description that we examine handwritten / typewritten material, questioned documents to identify the author, detect forgery, or determine a method used to alter a document.  We confer with laboratory specialists (chemists / photographers) to determine which scientific processes are necessary to effect analysis. Use of microscopes and  measuring with protractors.

The Code continues to state, a QDE - “Works in consultative capacity to various agencies or organizations, including police force, and testifies in legal proceedings”.

Not that the government has the final say on anything we do or don’t do, it is refreshing to know that we are validated and recognized by the government.

What do you do for a living? Do you have an Occupational Code?
